Let’s Refashion it! 1 month challenge

Out with the old and in with the new? No wait!  Don’t throw that away!  Let’s refashion it…  I’m so ready for spring and am in real need of a wardrobe update.  Let’s be honest who can afford a complete wardrobe makeover?  Not me!  So instead I thought it would be fun to fall in love with my favorites again.  I’m going to be giving my clothes as well as my daughters clothes a second glance and a second chance with easy refashioning alterations.

I already do a lot of refashion projects here and you can see a few of them by clicking on the links  I cut my shirtRuffle shirtMellow yellow dressHot pink lace trim teeAltered jeans.  But I wanted to challenge myself and attempt to tackle the 4 large plastic tubs of clothes that are piled up in the back of my closet.

I’m a day behind this month already but there is still 30 days to tackle my clothes stash and make some great new updated refashioned pieces for my closet as well as inspire you to update your closet too.

Here are few tips on how can you bring life to your old clothes:

1) Change the length- Change the length of your old dress by making it either long or shorter.  Accessorize it with a cute belt. Convert a  black skirt into a mini skirt will give it a fresh look. You can also shorten up their old jeans into hot shorts by cutting it uneven to give it a reckless and hot look.

2) Accessorize it- Convert a baggy t-shirt into a mini-dress by placing a funky belt at the waist. You can also cut the neck deeper, make it off-shoulder from one side or make a completely sleeveless dress. Accessorize with flower pins or bows and create a new look to it.

Here is a little video tutorial by carahamelie03 very simple and easy refashioning of a t~shirt.

3) Mix and Match- Using two completely different clothes and fusing them together into a new one can make all the difference you need to look great.

I really hope you come back everyday this month to see what else I have refashioned and maybe you will want to refashion you clothes too.  Please leave me a comment below and tell me what you have or want to refashion this year.

  1. This is great! Another great way is turning flowy shirts into infinity scarfs! I had quite a few fun patterned and interesting material shirts that I just wasn’t crazy about anymore, so I cut off the tops (the arms and neck) and it created the cutest infinity scarfs!
