I started this little challenge so I could either de~stash my overflowing boxes of clothes that either don’t fit right anymore or I just don’t like. Well I have too many so if I don’t refashion them they have to go… I have a month to get it done. It’s a win win for me and my daughter. We get a cleaner closet and a new wardrobe at the same time with little or no $ spent. And if I mess it up no big deal. Right?
You can see all the previous refashioned clothes at the bottom of each post.
Now onto the skirt refashion……
Here is the original tutorial on how to turn your pants into a skirt. I wanted a little more embellishment on these skirts so I added a ruffle to the edge of the skirt. Using the scraps from the pant leg to make them overlapping the strips together. All I did was made some ruffles my way( the lazy way) by pushing the fabric up under the presser foot on the machine. With my skirt I just added the ruffle to the top edge of the skirt. A simple running stitch over the top is all that was needed to secure it to the skirt. Now with my daughters skirt I sewed the ruffle with right sides together at the bottom edge of the skirt. Flipped over the ruffle and stitched it down flat.
