As you may know I’m currently working on 30 days of T-shirts. You can see my first post Embellished pockets here. Today I’ve re-fashioned a V-neck Tee by inserting a zipper down the center. What’s so cool is that you can wear it zipped or unzipped for a totally different look.
First, I ironed on some light weight fusible interfacing to the center of the t-shirt where I wanted to add the zipper to keep the fabric from stretching. I drew some lines to follow while stitching. I used a 7 inch zipper for this project. Sewed along the stitching lines in the shape of a rectangle. Once done stitching I cut down the center of my rectangle stitch. Pressed down the edges of t-shirt for a finished edge along my zipper. Insert zipper and pin into place. Topstitched the zipper in and my shirt is finished.
