Floral Pocket Tee

Floral Pocket Tee

Most of you know I pretty much live in jeans and tees.  So I have plenty of them to embellish or do whatever I like to make them a little more fun to wear.

Adding a contrasting pocket is one of the easiest ways I like to add a little extra detail to a plain old tee.   I also love that it takes no more than twenty minutes to complete.

For this tee, I used a small scrap piece of this floral print cotton that I’ve had in my stash for ever.

All I did was trace the existing pocket that was on the tee and cut my fabric a little bit bigger than I wanted it so I have enough extra for turning under raw edges.

First you will need to fold down the top edge of your pocket twice forming the finished edge.  Topstitch it in place. Take the remaining three edges of your pocket and fold each side under 1/4″ and press with a hot iron.  If you need more help on pocket construction you can check out this tutorial for a square-shaped pocket from Craftaholics Anonymous.

 Great pictures to follow!

Pin your pocket to the tee and topstitch it down.  I’ve also added a few sleeve tabs that are about an inch wide to each side.  Tacked them to the center of the sleeve with a matching button.

Cute!

If you didn’t want to sew the pocket on or don’t know how to sew you could use some fabric glue to attach the pocket to your tee.
