I made this duffel bag for my daughter’s Birthday and just finished putting on all the little extra embellishments today. I let her pick out the fabrics and had her help me piece it together and then I completed the rest of the bag. I used the McCall’s 3693 sewing pattern that I got at Joann’s way back when… I bought pre-quilted fabric rather than doing it myself. It’s a lot faster for me to complete a project in a reasonable amount of time and the stores have such pretty quilted prints out right now.
I did however already have this fabric in my stash from a previous project.
Right now I’m really in love with adding pieces of vinyl, leather, or sued to all of my bags. I really like the look it gives the bags.
With this pattern I did find the instructions a bit confusing on how to sew the lining to the outside of the bag so I just did my best with how I thought it should go together and the overall look I wanted on the outside of the bag and it came out great.
What do you think?
I’d love to hear from you please leave me a comment below.
Good luck sewing!
It’s beautiful and sort of “shabby chic” too! I adore it!

I just made the tote bag from this pattern and found the instructions regarding the lining really confusing. I think your duffle is gorgeous.
