I’m Jeanna somewhat of a self-taught seamstress and DIY’er. I learned a lot of things from trial and error. Growing up with a mom who sews I picked up the basics but didn’t ever get into it seriously untill my first child was born. I felt a strong need to do something creative, and liked sewing.
My first project was a dress pattern for knit fabrics. Oh my gosh let me tell you it was a disaster, but I still wanted to make something.
My mom had made my son’s crib bedding and pajama pants and stuff when he was little. So I became more interested in making things for him. I started off with blankets and pillows for our home and once I got better at sewing and reading patterns I moved on to bags, then kids clothes and costumes, and finally clothes for myself.
“Drama Queen Seams” is the name of the blog because when my daughter was little she was very dramatic about everything and we would call her a Drama Queen. At the time I had an obsession with creating fun and colorful girly things for her and I so the name just fit.
It has been such a great source of expression for me, and something I enjoy very much.This blog is a way for me to show you ideas and tutorials from sewing, painting, fashion, re-fashion, and some yummy foods that I like… So come on let’s make something pretty today!
